Dragoljub Draža Mihailović (Ivanjica, Kingdom of Serbia, 27 April 1893 - Belgrade, FNRJ, July 17, 1946) was the Army General and Chief of Staff of the Supreme Command of the Yugoslav Army in the Fatherland, as well as the Minister of the Army, Air Force and Navy of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, in the government of Academician Slobodan Jovanović and the government of Dr. Božidar Purić, during the Second World War. During the Balkan Wars and the First World War, Draza was a Serbian Army officer in the Kingdom of Serbia. After the Second World War, the new communist authorities condemned him to death and buried him in a secret place after the shooting. Currently, the procedure for his rehabilitation is being conducted before the High Court in Belgrade. Mihailović is one of the most decorated officers in the history of the modern Serbian state, and the last award was given to him posthumously by American President Harry Truman in March 1948 - awarded him the Legion of Merit of the first degree for organizing and leading a very important force in the resistance against the enemy in occupied Yugoslavia, rescuing American airmen shot down over Yugoslavia.
