Zica is a Serbian medieval monastery from the first half of the 13th century, which is located near the Kings and belongs to the Diocese of Zica of the Serbian Orthodox Church. It was built by the first king of Serbia from the Nemanjic dynasty, Stefan Nemanjić (Grand Mayor 1196-1217, king 1217-1228), from 1206 to 1221, and his brother, St. Sava (1219— 1233). After gaining church independence in 1219, the headquarters of the Autocephalous Serbian Archdiocese was located in Zica. At the beginning of the last decade of the thirteenth century, the monastery was destroyed in the attack of the Tatars, after which the seat of the archbishopric was transferred to the Holy Apostles near Pecs, and the monastery itself was restored by King Milutin (1282-1321) in the early 14th century. During the Middle Ages, bishops and kings of the Nemanjic dynasty were enthroned in Zica.
