Belgrade - Singidunum was conquered by many conquerors like Hun, Ostrogot, Sharmat and Avar, until the arrival of Slovene around 630 AD.

The first records on the Slovenian name of Belgrade date back to 878. The city lies at the confluence of the Sava River in the Danube in the northern part of central Serbia and the river is practically threatened by the river on three sides. Due to this position it is rightly called the "gate of the Balkans" and "the door of Central Europe".
