Although unfairly neglected and placed in the background behind Nordic, Egyptian or Greek mythology, Slavic mythology far surpasses them in its wealth. The Slavs were the most numerous people in history, and the territory they inhabited with their tribes was huge - from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland all the way to Western Europe, where some of the tribes settled, and south to the territory of today's Balkan Peninsula.
Until recently shrouded in a veil of secrecy and mystery, it is experiencing its great return to the place it deserves in the complex puzzle of European cultural and historical heritage.
