LADA, GODDESS OF LOVE
Lada is the mother of Gods, Rod's divine pair, Rodilja - the first created from Rod, she is the love that initiated the creation of the cosmos. Lada is the personification of generative nature, great exuberance, fertility, birth and bright summer. She is represented as a girl with long golden hair with iridescence in the color of the rising and setting sun, in which a wreath of wheat ears is sometimes woven, which symbolizes her function as a fertility deity. On her chest is carved a human figure, sometimes also a symbol of the Sun, a sign of life-giving power, and in some places she has a diadem richly decorated with gold, silver and precious stones.
Lada's animals are the rooster, deer, ant and eagle while her plants are cherry, dandelion, linden and peony.
Rituals performed in honor of Lada are most often associated with marriages, that is, choosing a spouse, often mentioned in wedding songs. It is celebrated with summer rites and processions of ladarica, i.e. queens with a request to give the Earth rain and fertility. She is the protector of love and marriage, so girls make sacrifices to her as a sign of love for a guy, and women make sacrifices to her to maintain happiness in marriage.
