PERUN is the most powerful Slavic God, God of princes and knights, invincible warrior, creator of lightning and thunder. He protects state order, maintains order in the Universe, provides victory in battles.
Of all the deities, he is in the most direct relationship with people, and as an extremely powerful God, he is respected even among non-Slavic peoples.
It governs natural phenomena such as rain, lightning, thunder, clouds and hail and influences people's lives with them. It is often associated with cults of water, wood and stone. Lightning often hits an oak tree, which from that moment becomes a holy, consecrated tree from which statues of deities are made - thus he introduced his spirit into the oak, filling it with divine power.
Perun is armed with a staff, a bow, arrows (lightning bolts) and an ax, which is his most important characteristic, with which he targets evil people and spirits. He was represented as an elderly gray-haired man with silver hair and a golden beard, as a horseman riding the heavens in a battle chariot, and the noise that real people perceived as thunder.
